Bokeberg, ESFA, 10 år 2010 - fotogalleri!
2010-07-13 22:05

AIRPORT HISTORY AND BUILDING "LOG BOOK"

Karta

Almost ten years ago, during 1989, the discussion started about the new ringroad around the town of Hässleholm. The new road would take away part of the small airport Hässleholm/Vankiva, ESMD. So it did around 1993 and although some flying activity continued, the runway was too short for towing of gliders. Already before that the planning started for a new airport, and a site was chosen approx. 6 kilometers south east of Hässleholm on the land of the farm Bokeberg and near the small village of Ignaberga. Due to opposition from a few people living in the Ignaberga village, the community had to wait for a final decision by the Swedish government. In the meantime a hangar was built and the clubhouse was moved to the new location. After a very long waiting period and numerous delays, the construction work on the new grass airfield started officially on the 14th of August 1998.

Ground breaking ceremony is over and work can begin

January 1999, no building activity

In accordance with the latest time plan the building activities started again in the middle of May 1999. Runways and taxiway was ready in August 1999. Now we only will have to wait for the grass to grow. Below: Photo from June 1999. A carrying layer of macadam is applied. A layer of soil for grass is next.

And, of course, while the grass is growing on the runways, buzy club members are performing hard work on the airfield and houses. Here the old club house gets some well deserved outer wall touch up at an "activity day" autumn 1999.

Another long winter. But under the snow the grass grows on the new runways. But after winter comes spring and it is getting better. Photo May 2000. Soon flyingactivities can start!

The date for inauguration, airshow and small airport festival was

Sunday September 3, 2000!

and it was a success!
